Metal Detecting an 1840's Plantation House
We still have a lot of ground to cover at this beautiful mansion built in 1845. The original log cabin burned down in 1840. This property was deeded to a soldier for his service in the Revolutionary War in 1790. The property had a blacksmith shop, grist mill, schoolhouse, and cemetery. During the Civil War, this was a safe haven for the slaves that traveled up the C&O Canal. They traveled from Virginia and stayed here in the slave houses on their way to Pennsylvania. Join us on this adventure as we admire the beauty of this piece of history.
