1) They are great travel partners and can go anywhere and are easy to carry. Chihuahuas are the smallest breed and can be carried very easily. Some of them weigh as little as 3 pounds, which makes them lighter than a newborn baby. And if you get tired of holding your Chi, they can easily be carried in a bag or purse and are quite content to just go along with you on outings.

2) Special and unique history. Chihuahuas come from chihuahua Mexico, from the wild breed, the Techichi. They were domesticated by the Toltecs and were the favorite of the Aztecs, kept by the royalty, the priests, and the commoners.

3) Perfect pint-size. The tiny Chihuahua is the smallest dog breed, and we love anything miniature - from doll houses, to tiny pint-size, travel-size items. small houses, and miniature golf. Mini means fun and cute, and nothing is more fun or cuter than the pint-size Chihuahua.

4) Great for dress up. Chihuahuas may not LOVE to play dress up, but they love us and they know that we love dressing them up, so they, well, they kinda tolerate it!

5) Wide varieties of looks. Unlike other dog breeds, the Chihuahua comes in many shapes and sizes. There are long coat, smooth coat, standard size, teacup size, apple head, dear head, and the Chihuahua can come in a wide variety of colors as well.

6) They are full of spunk and character and quirky and entertaining. Chihuahuas will steal your heart with their charm. They will stare at you, watch you, and jump into your lap when given the opportunity. Chihuahuas are very alert too. You will see them bathing in a pool of sunlight, napping, but quickly jump up to alert you when there’s a delivery at the door or a bird chirping on a tree, or some other dangers!

7) They are extremely loyal. Chihuahuas, as lap dogs, will very quickly attach themselves to their people. They will make eye contact with you in a room full of other people, and will seek you out as their loyal companion.

8) They know how to be charming. I truly feel the Chihuahuas know that they are adorable. They realize their super power! They know that they have you under their power!

9) Life expectancy. Chihuahuas have a long life expectancy. They can live 14, 15, 16 years or more.

10) Brave and make great guard dogs. As mentioned earlier, Chihuahuas are always on guard and will warn you of any and all dangers, real and perceived. This might give them the reputation of being yappy, but you will come to appreciate their alertness. Remember the old saying, it’s not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog that matters.

11) Bred to be lap dogs making them very loving and cuddly to their people. Some breeds have been bred and trained to be work dogs, shepherd dogs, terriers, guard dogs, be sled dogs, etc. Well, the Chihuahua’s main purpose they have been bred for is to be a lap dog! That’s their job. They are companions and want to connect with and be loyal to their people - by sitting on our laps.

12) They don’t need a lot of exercise. Chihuahuas really don’t need a lot of exercise. You can take them on short walks if you want or let them run around the backyard for some exercise, but in the end, they really are quite simple with minimal needs.

13) easy to clean up after. Small dogs make small poops. Big dogs make big poops. Enough said!
