Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky (1817-1900, Russia) was a Russian romantic painter who is considered one of the greatest painters of marine art. His most famous painting, ‘The Ninth Wave’ (Russian Museum, St. Petersburg), is of extraordinary drama and explores the romantic theme of man’s struggle with forces of nature. He also painted numerous paintings on orientalist themes, particularly of Constantinople.

Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (1844-1908). Based on ‘One Thousand and One Night’, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade is considered one of the best examples of Orientalism in classical music.
