Making Acrylic and Oil Paint from Gentian Violet (Crystal Violet)

Gentian violet is an old school antiseptic thats widely available, highly pigmented, and very cheap. In this video I use the gentian violet to make a lake pigment to use in oil paint- as well as an acrylic paint. It also performs very well as an ink and dye. Although its a synthetic pigment- its safe and non-toxic.
