TEACH YOUR CHILDREN - CROSBY STILL NASH YOUNG | FRANKS BASS COVERS #shorts2025

Deja Vu (released May 1970) was the first album the band recorded with Neil Young, but Young did not play on this track.

Graham Nash wrote this song. The lyrics deal with the often difficult relationship he had with his father, who spent time in prison.

When CSN&Y rush-released the single "Ohio," a Neil Young composition about the Kent State Shootings, in June 1970, just as "Teach Your Children" was climbing the charts.

Many pop radio stations wouldn't keep two songs by the same group in rotation at the same time, so "Teach Your Children" was prematurely dropped from a lot of playlists and stalled at #16 in the US. Nash, though, had no problem with it.

Jerry Garcia performed the pedal steel guitar part of this track. Garcia taught himself how to play the instrument during his tenure with the New Riders of the Purple Sage.

Graham Nash – lead vocals, harmony vocals, acoustic rhythm guitar, percussion
David Crosby – harmony vocals
Stephen Stills – harmony vocals, acoustic rhythm guitar, bass guitar
