Cyber defence and the EU’s cyber posture

What are the recently adopted EU cyber-related policies and how relevant are they in the current geopolitical context?

The war on Ukraine has significantly impacted the EU’s foreign policy, including in cyberspace. The EU’s cyber defence policy adopted in 2022 address some of the longstanding questions on the block’s cyber agenda: its overall ambition in cyberspace, the relations between military and civilian actors, and existing capabilities gaps. But is this enough? And what are some of the questions that remain unanswered?

At this seminar, Dr. Patryk Pawlak will provide an overview of the recently adopted EU cyber-related policies and assess their relevance in the current geopolitical context. He will then discuss some of the outstanding issues, especially in the context of the ongoing revisions of the EU Cyber Diplomacy Toolbox.
