The water softener in my basement was leaking. Water was spraying from one of the pipes that connects the softener to the plumbing. I was able to turn off the water going to the softener with the bypass valve. Then remove the rusted parts and replace them.
The total repair didn't cost that much since i was able to reuse the parts that were still good. Just some teflon tape and the 2" x 3/4" MIP connector.
Luckily i already had the pipe wrenches and heavy duty vice. The rusted pipes were very difficult to free-up and i couldn't have done it without the vice.
