The French navy seized a Russian-linked “shadow fleet” tanker with British assistance. Will Russia respond?

“If they’re able to successfully detain ships and they’re able to show muscle, that’s something that the Kremlin may not like, but at least they respect it,” Louis Wierenga, Lecturer in International Relations at the Baltic Defence College, told TVP World.

“It’s a very bold response. And it’s a very correct response. So now I don’t think that anybody can really make the argument, if they actually believe it, that Europe is not stepping up and taking the initiative to really take the security of the entire continent seriously,” he added.
