Erongored chief executive Immanuel !Hanabeb shared information on new changes in the pre- paid metering environment at Walvis Bay on Tuesday. The regional electricity distributor (RED) received directives from the Standard Transfer Specification (STS) Association regarding changes that will come into effect in November 2024. It will affect Erongored meters and all STS-compliant meters across the world. The RED worked at ensuring that it will be STS compliant by the date, through upgrading its vending system software to incorporate the new STS6 standard. The RED currently has over 39 416 prepaid meters that need to be updated so that customers are able to consume electricity after November 2024. Video: Taati Niilenge
