In today's Aussie English video I explain how to pronounce the vowels /iː/ and /ɪ/ in words like ship and sheep, shit and sheet, bitch and beach, etc.

As an Australian English teacher I often get a lot of questions about how to pronounce these kinds of vowel sounds in English, and many students have told me how they refuse to say words like "sheet" or "beach" for fear of saying "shit" or "bitch" accidentally.

In today's video, I show you how to pronounce both vowels /iː/ and /ɪ/ and then teach you a trick that you can do to test your English pronunciation of these vowels to make sure you're saying them correctly.

At the end, we also go through some English pronunciation exercises for you to do with me as you listen and repeat after me and practice these vowel sounds.

After this video, you'll be saying words like ship, sheep, bitch, beach, shit, and sheet like a native speaker, and no longer making embarrassing mistakes in your Australian English pronunciation.
