From Feds to Freedom Documentary: The Return of Big Moe "The Mayor" | First Day Out : Buck Tv
Maurice "Big Moe The Mayor" Anderson made a name for himself long before prison — a well-known promoter and respected figure throughout South Carolina, especially in Columbia. He was known for bringing people together, building platforms, and creating opportunities in the city.
But with success came heat. In the early 2000s, Maurice got caught up in a federal case tied to conspiracy and drug-related charges. Like many others at that time, he faced a heavy hand from the system, one designed to take down entire circles, not just individuals.
He was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison. But while serving his time, Moe became what many called a "jailhouse lawyer" — helping other inmates fight their cases, learn the law, and find hope inside a broken system.
Because of his leadership and influence inside, the system fought back, handing him an additional 10 years to his sentence in retaliation.
After serving 12 hard years, Maurice "Big Moe The Mayor" Anderson is finally home. This is just the beginning of his next chapter.
This documentary captures the real story of his first day out — from being dropped at a bus station with nothing but faith, to being welcomed back by a city that never forgot him.
Shot by long-time friends and the legendary BuckTV, this is more than just a homecoming.
It’s a raw, emotional look at strength, loyalty, and survival after years behind the wall.
From the ride back to Columbia, SC, to a midday welcome party at Concept Lounge, every moment shows that no matter how dark it gets, real ones find their way back to the light.
