Legendary Traders - BNF (Takashi Kotegawa)

Takashi Kotegawa (a.k.a BNF) is arguably Japan’s most prolific stock market trader, turning $15,000 in starting capital into a massive fortune of close to $200 million in just eight years.

After dropping out of college to pursue a career as a professional trader, BNF started posting his daily winnings and losses on a popular Japanese message board.

This garnered him a bit of a following, but what gained him wider recognition was the so-called “J Com Fat Finger Incident,“in which an institutional trader’s blunder caused the price of the newly-listed stock J COM to plummet.

The stock then soared, after the brokerage firm responsible started buying back shares to rectify their mistake.

BNF capitalized on this opportunity and turned a profit of $17 million overnight.
