American Buttercream Icing Recipe: ALWAYS START W/ YOUR HAND MIXER ALREADY IN THE BOWL BEFORE TURNING ON TO AVOID SPLASHING On a medium speed, beat 2 cups of room temp unsalted butter (1 lb. box), then mix in 1 tbsp. of vanilla extract and 1/2 tsp. of salt on a low speed. Slowly add in 7 cups of powdered sugar on the lowest setting so it doesn't splash everywhere. Halfway through adding the sugar, add your 3 tablespoons of whipping cream so it's easier to mix. Mix on low until all ingredients are fully incorporated and you're done! You'll never go back to eating store bought icing after this

Tools: Hand mixer (it'll be brutal trying to mix the icing without it), any fully equipped cake decorating kit from amazon, cake board (from walmart), & a 9 inch springform cake pan!
