Maya - 360° Camera

This tutorial is about 360° panoramas. In the 3D worlds we create using Maya, we're always in a 360° environment. But how do we render and export such a scene?

We create and manipulate a sphere, plant Paint FX flowers onto it and render wthe scene with Arnold. Arnold provides several kinds of cameras. We experiment with the VR camera and with the Spherical Camera. You see the result, rendered 5000 pixels wide, in my blog: http://www.maxschoenherr.de/clock/tulips-in-360/

If you look closely you see that the Paint FX tulips are not completely converted to polygons. It does not matter for this tutorial, but here is why that is: In the convert to Polygon option box I choose a polygon limit of 10,000. That's to little to provide us with the buds of all the tulips.
