Telemetry reveals Ferrari’s true pace 🔴 #Ferrari #SF26 #F1 #SpanishGP #Hamilton #Leclerc #Mercedes

Ferrari may have been much faster in Barcelona than the final qualifying result suggested. Telemetry analysis from the Spanish Grand Prix reveals that the upgraded SF-26 was arguably one of the strongest cars on the grid, with Lewis Hamilton coming within just 64 thousandths of a second of pole position.

After a difficult Friday, Ferrari transformed its weekend through major setup changes and a comprehensive upgrade package that affected almost every aerodynamic area of the car. The result was a dramatic increase in downforce and efficiency, allowing the SF-26 to excel through Barcelona’s fast corners and challenge rivals, including Mercedes.

The telemetry shows that Lewis Hamilton gained significant time in the opening sector thanks to Ferrari’s outstanding chassis performance, strong front-end grip and impressive cornering speeds. In fact, the SF-26 looked extremely competitive whenever the lap relied on aerodynamics and mechanical balance.

However, the data also exposed Ferrari’s biggest remaining weakness: engine performance. The power unit still forces the drivers to sacrifice time on the straights through aggressive energy management and lift-and-coast techniques. As the lap progressed, much of the advantage Lewis Hamilton built in the corners gradually disappeared.

The decisive moment came on the final straight. Lewis Hamilton arrived with a small advantage, but battery depletion and limited straight-line performance allowed George Russell to edge ahead by just 0.064 seconds.

The encouraging news for Ferrari is that the upgrades clearly worked. The SF-26 now appears capable of fighting for pole positions, and with further power unit improvements expected in the coming races, the Scuderia may finally have the tools needed to re-enter the Formula 1 title battle. Barcelona showed that Ferrari’s true pace could be even stronger than the timing screens suggested.
