In the Studio with Long Beach printmaker Abel Alejandre

As a printmaker, artist Abel Alejandre's craft is incredibly time consuming; each mark he makes is a calculated, carefully delivered movement that, when multiplied, make up the subjects in his works. Exploring masculinity through depictions of his own life and portraits of others, Alejandre also uses the rooster to convey manhood and machismo.

You can check out one of Alejandre's works in person at the University Art Museum in "Call and Response, When We Say ... You Say", an exhibit featuring artists of Wilmington-based Slanguage Studio and pieces from the UAM's permanent collection, through April 14. For more info, visit this link: https://bit.ly/2JEqLtM.
