State bill would allow family access to nursing homes during declared emergencies
Few populations suffered more during the COVID-19 pandemic than residents of nursing homes. Most were shut off from the outside world and some died without family by their side. KPBS Evening Edition anchor Maya Trabulsi says a new bill in the California legislature aims to prevent that from happening during future public health emergencies.
