About the Video:
The first day of February every year brings in a new Union Budget in India with high hopes and anticipation for the tax payers and the common man. This year too we saw the honourable Finance Minister of India, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman presenting the Budget 2021-22. This year’s budget held focus on the health and well-being, infrastructure, financial capital, innovation and Research & Development. The Railway Budget for 2021-22 stood at ₹1.1 Lakh Crores out of which ₹ 1.07 Lakh Crores was dedicated to capital expenditure. The Health and well-being sector budget stood at ₹2.23 Lakh Crores with a 137% increase from the Budget 2020-21. A new voluntary vehicle scrapping policy has also been prompted to be introduced. There was a focused vision for AtmaNirbhar Bharat presented in the speech that talked about developing capacities of primary, secondary and tertiary health care systems, strengthening the existing institutions and creating new ones.
The total proposed Capital Expenditure for Budget 2021-22 stood at ₹5.54 lakh crores with a 34.5% increase from its predecessor. This year’s Union Budget also brought in strategic disinvestments of some PSUs starting from RailTel, LIC, SCI, CONCOR, etc. The target receipt from the disinvestments is expected to be of ₹1.75 Lakh Crores. The Insurance sector’s permissible FDI limit was also increased from 49% to 74%. Let us have a quick Budget 2021 analysis on what changed for the common man?
