Welcome to Prague!
CEA Study Abroad: Prague, Czech Republic
Arrival Day- Pick up students from airport.
The Prague Center Director coordinates the student’s arrival at the airport. There is on-site staff to help students pick up luggage from airport, welcome them outside in the terminal, and coordinate the transport for them. The Director sees students to their taxies and busses and sends them into the city where the CEAs housing staff is waiting to check them into their apartment.
Going through the welcome packs, showing the apartments
Before students arrive, the housing staff goes around to makes sure they have everything they need including: a welcome letter, orientation packages, keys, pens, open card, map and forms to sign. Stove, kettle, dishware, sheets, grocery list, handouts, informational posters showing where they live and indicating the closest grocery store, pharmacy, and post office. There is also information about the school, including the location of the CEA office, emergency contacts, calendars, rules and reminders, and program objectives.
Students have cleaning services provided weekly for the common areas; however, students are responsible for dishes, trash and personal spaces.
First impressions
“It’s the most beautiful city and the apartment far exceeds our expectations. We can’t believe we have this great view to look at every day. And it was so easy getting here!”
“We are excited to be on the fourth floor, so we have a really good view on the street and we are really close to the bridge and the school. We were surprised about how big the apartments are and we have a walk in closet! And wifi! And the staff was really helpful with our luggage and getting us all settled. We are really excited.”
Orientation day
Program Goals:
· Experience the Czech way of life, culture and language
· Learn about new situations and places and meet new people
· Gain intercultural and global competence
“By being outside your comfort zone, you can expect personal growth as well as living a life-time experience.”
Enjoy Prague and Party Smart
Prague is extremely fun. It is a great city, and you’ll have a wonderful time here. When you are out, use common sense, travel in groups, maintain a healthy suspicion, and buy your own drinks.
Meet and engage with your academic director then enjoy a welcome lunch at the Italian Cultural Institute in Prague
