Renée Fleming and Dmitri Hvorostovsky have incredible chemistry in this live concert performance the final duet of Eugene Onegin. Having performed together regularly over a period of two decades, including this scene countless times in concert and on stage, it is rare to hear two opera singers as connected and improvisatory as can be heard here, even finer it seems to me than in their famous Metropolitan opera performances (2007). The beautifully subtle range of vocal colours speaks to the deep connection these artists have with their roles.
