Startup Central: Razorpay’s AI Push, UpGrad–Unacademy Deal & PhonePe IPO Delay | Business News

India’s startup ecosystem is witnessing major developments across fintech, edtech, and e-commerce logistics.

Ronnie Screwvala-led UpGrad is set to acquire edtech platform Unacademy in an all-stock deal, according to founder Gaurav Munjal. The deal reportedly values Unacademy at around $300 million — a sharp drop from its peak valuation of $3.4 billion.

Meanwhile, fintech major PhonePe has temporarily deferred its IPO plans due to geopolitical tensions and global market volatility, according to CEO Sameer Nigam.

On the fintech innovation front, Razorpay CEO Harshal Mathur spoke to ET Now about the company’s new AI-powered agent platform built using Anthropic’s Claude model, designed to automate payments, dispute resolution, and business operations.

Additionally, Amazon has expanded its air logistics network with a new Amazon Air route connecting Kolkata and Guwahati, enabling faster deliveries across Northeast India.
