Abusive Taekwondo Teacher ADMITS to Assault and Battery - Physical Evidence

There is no standardized system of verifying the legitimacy of martial arts schools. This can lead to dojos teaching ineffective or incomplete self defense. Even worse, it can lead to the abuse of students by their instructors. If a student is being abused, they can simply leave the school. But simply leaving doesn’t ensure the prevention of inappropriate behavior from detestable teachers towards other students. That’s why when my martial arts instructor cursed at me, yanked me by the belt, and hit me in the neck with a knifehand chop during warm ups, not only did I leave the school, but I reported this assault and battery to the local police department. I wanted to prevent this instructor from abusing other students in the future. I provided the police with an eye witness’s written statement about the assault, as well as an audio recording of the instructor admitting he grabbed me by the belt and struck me. This is strong physical evidence supporting that these events took place.

To my surprise, my case was dropped for lack of evidence, even though I provided a recorded admission of guilt and an eye witness testimony. I was unable to obtain any information about my case from the county court house or the prosecuting attorney. When I submitted a public records request about the case at the police station, the written report omitted the part of my recording where the teacher says “I struck you”. The report also leaves out what I believe to be incriminating details. These events lead me to think that the police did not turn over the evidence, and instead intentionally hid it. The only explanation for this absurd outcome that makes sense to me is that the local law enforcement is obstructing justice for the teacher because he happens to be a deputy sheriff. I feel like I have been a victim of obstruction of justice, on top of assault and battery.

It concerns me that these people are policing in my community and teaching children. At the risk of invoking police harassment, I am writing this as a warning. Beware of the integrity of some of the people in law enforcement, and beware of the hidden dangers of enrolling in unsafe martial arts schools.

This video displays the physical evidence of abuse by Chris Ivanoff that I provided to the Powell Wyoming Police Department.
~He treats his students like shit to test their loyalty as a process of going up in the ranks.~

I don’t like that. I didn’t like being treated like shit, and the people of Powell Wyoming should know that he will treat their children like that.
