3 Billion LY in MS: FRBs

Cosmic explosions are blasting Earth with invisible energy right now. Giant pulses of energy are crossing 3 billion light-years in mere milliseconds, which is faster than the blink of an eye. These blasts release as much energy as the sun does in an entire day, and they can also release an enormous amount of radiation that can be detected from millions of light-years away. Fast radio bursts are detected by vast arrays of antennas in remote deserts, using complex algorithms to filter out noise and pinpoint the source. Scientists think they might be caused by massive neutron stars collapsing in on themselves, which can create an incredibly dense and spinning core. And right now, one of these blasts is headed straight for our galaxy. You might be wondering, what causes fast radio bursts, how are fast radio bursts detected, what is the energy released by fast radio bursts, or can fast radio bursts harm Earth.
