WESTCOUNTRY TALES S2E6 - The Little Bounder

In this episode a widowed mother from the early victorian era has to give up her two oldest children to the workhouse. She later traces her daughter to a farm where her daughter Lizzie is indentured, where, once again she is tragically separated from her child. Rose, the mother gives her daughter a pendant for good luck. Her mother's farewell gift proves to be a true lucky talisman. The story is told from the perspective of a contemporary local antiques dealer who recalls the story told to him, as passed down the generations .
The antiques dealer is played by the late Desmond Hawkins ( who also narrates the episode). Desmond was a leading TV producer in the BBC West region and through his efforts in the 1950's co-created the BBC Natural History Unit as well as the antiques features genre today represented by the 'Antiques Roadshow'..... so there is more than one story encapsulated here.
The filming limitations of a very low budget production can be seen in this episode - modern door locks and street detailing for example - but hopefully the story still shines through!
