F126 frigates: the German navy equipped to deal with new threats - Thales

Warships today are major hubs of communications, and they need to stay connected with multiple sources of information.
Increased connectivty brings new threats, and makes cybersecurity a major challenge.
Damen and Thales have been chosen to build four multi-purpose frigates for the German Navy, based on their expertise in naval shipbuilding and the integration of advanced cyber-secure combat systems. The 160-metre-long vessels will be operated by a crew of over 100 sailors and carry out a broad range of missions, including surveillance, rescue, humanitarian aid and support of special forces.
The integrated solution to be provided by Thales will include the Tacticos combat management system – already in service in 25 countries worldwide – coupled with a surface combat suite and an innovative digital radar.
