Whether you’re buying a superyacht, catamaran, or flybridge, you always have the option of buying new, used, or building your own, and regardless of whichever you chose, it’s important you realize the benefits of each.
Just as you would when determining your best option when buying real estate, you’d speak first with a realtor, the same is true when buying a yacht. This first call should go to a broker that isn’t selling the yacht to make sure you buy the right one at the right price.

So New, Used, Custom.
The Most Common, The Most Economical, and where I can provide you the most value is used, or a brokerage boat. When you buy a previously owned yacht, you’ll be able to sail virtually immediately upon closing, you’ll have a survey completed before purchase to inform you of any and all issues, and you’ll know in your research if a particular model has had reoccurring or prevalent issues, and you’ll be able to submit a calculated offer based on your awareness of market comps, recent sales data and other factors. This is the most common fact that it allows buyers to get the most bang for their buck.
You can also buy new; The latest and greatest in technology and design, warranties on the hull and engine, not to mention you’ll be the first owner, so any issues that arise are caused by nobody besides you or your captain.
Your third option is a custom build, which in the industry, there’s nothing better regarded than a custom yacht. While this will be the most expensive route, you will get to customize nearly every detail alongside a Naval architect which is sure to make you extremely knowledgeable as an owner.
