The Exploding Wire
The technique of the exploding wire relies on the discharge of a high voltage capacitor into a thin wire, the intense heat vaporizes the wire and a shockwave is produced.
It has been used as a detonator of nuclear weapons, as a high intensity light source, in the production of nanoparticles, and in nuclear fusion research.
Warning: Danger of electrocution, do not replicate at home.
