The moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here, the titan sized battle between everyone’s favorite two Kaiju: Godzilla Vs Kong! This isn’t actually the first time the two have battled on screen, with the very first battle occurring back in 1962 with TOHO’s King Kong Vs Godzilla. This being a remake of a fifty year old film, of course there are tons of references and easter eggs for fans of both the Monsterverse and TOHO film fans to sink their teeth into. There are tons of various Kaiju and monsters that are possible references here: Mothra, Rodan, Dogra, Jet Jaguar, Skull Crawlers, Zilla; who made the final cut of the film? Who was mentioned in fleeting cameos? and who was entirely omitted? It’s a big question, but we have the answers!

But the Kaiju epic flicks are not the only references that occur in the movie. There are shots carried over from the Steven Spielberg hit Jaws, inspiration drawn from John McClane of the Die Hard series, and The Undertaker from WWE even fits into this somehow. There’s also indication that Kong is a member of the Flag Smashers from Disney Plus’ Falcon And The Winter Soldier. Okay admittedly, that one is a bit of a coincidence, but it does in fact lead into something else!

There’s a lot to cover in this one, so after checking out the movie on a massive IMAX screen or in the comfort of your own home from HBO Max, get ready to find out everything that inspired this goliath of a film.
