I hope everyone had a safe and happy fourth of July. I'm doing a little rewind to spring for the split portion of this video. This split was on some equipment I stacked out in the fall. I let them build up in early spring and then split them up to recover the equipment, to prevent swarming and to multiply colonies of course. By recover equipment I mean getting brood out of mediums so that I could use them for honey supers as they were intended to be. These were stacked with mediums in the fall because I ran out of deeps. I didn't even look for the old queen after splitting. I just put swarm cells in each box and let the bees sort it out. I went back around 21 days later to make sure I had mated queens in all the boxes.

These nucs were moved just two weeks ago and about half of them are still at my place.
