Using LIVE fish as BAIT

Using LIVE fish as BAIT can be a phenomenally successful way on catching fish that eat FISH.

I grew up chucking live fish out as bait for Barramundi and have decided to give it a go around my local area. Live baiting can be a good method of catching Mulloway, Sharks, Bream (using smaller livies), Flathead, Salmon and Tailor just to name a few. (Yep and those other species that steal your bait)

There is various ways to rig for live baiting, in this video I used a very simple method called the running sinker rig. You can also pin your live fish in various different locations on their body depending on what presentation your going for, the current, tide etc….

Another great way to pin a live mullet is in the tail region, either side of the spine, or through the nose.

I would always suggest using a circle style hook to reduce the occasions where fish swallow the hook into their gut. The circle style hook helps getting nice mouth hook ups.
