I'm dedicating this channel to searching for the lost languages of our planet
Indigenous is a series that combines my love for storytelling, my passion for languages, and my desire to understand more about this world into one international series that uncovers the stories behind the lost languages of our planet. While in Armenia last autumn, I created the first project in this series while searching for the Pontic Greek language. When I found the last of only 900 speakers of this ancient Greek dialect, I learned more about why the language was so important, and why Pontic Greek and other lost languages were worth preserving. Indigenous will be a series that fully encompasses the regions it visits, from the modern city life, to traditional village cultures. And as always, I will make sure to learn the local language, because there is no better way to communicate with people than in their native languages.
