Water in the Wild Garden
There are two things you can do in any garden to encourage wildlife: 1. To provide food. 2. To have a supply of fresh, safe and clean water. It may look as if this bird bath is dirty but it is not, we have had it for many years and what you see is the result of the good use it gets. This bird bath is made from recycled plastic and is available from the RSPB (I have no connections with them other than being a member). In our small Bungalow we have two gardens (front & back) but they are both small. By all our Hedgehog feeding stations we have a bowl of water but some of them like drinking from our wild pond which has a shallow beach so that wildlife can easily get in and out of it. We have two shallow stone water baths and the one in the video which has graduated sides. In warm weather it may sometimes have to be refreshed several times during the day but they are all well used. Any receptacle can be used but make sure that wildlife can safely get in and out of it by placing rocks etc. in so that they can get out.
