The second Charles found out that his dog was sick, he wanted to leave the pup by the dumpster. He didn’t want to spend money on treatment, especially since he’d been saving up to start his business. Luckily, Lizzy, Charles’ wife discovered his plans in time. He tried to convince her that they could just get another dog. But Lizzy refused to give up on the pup and promised to divorce Charles if he did anything to hurt Lucky. 

Charles promised to bring the pup to the vet. But he actually planned to put him down.
