Figli Luigi Oddero 2015 Barolo Vignarionda Premium Italian Wine Review

The Oddero family has been producing wines in Piedmont since 1878. Brothers Giacomo and Luigi Oddero who grew the winery’s reputation as one of the Langhe’s best wineries, amicably splitting the estate in 2006. 32 hectares was given to Luigi but Luigi passed away in 2009,. The winery is now run by his widow and children, who have hired Stefano Boffa and Gregorio Tura as their winemakers and Dante Scaglione as their wine consultant

Figli Luigi Oddero is mostly know as a La Morra producer but they also hold lands in Vignaronda, (which is the village of Serralunga D'Alba). Vignaronda is a MGA and is a historic vineyard named after its round shape. An amphitheater of vines is completely exposed to sunlight. The winery has 0.8 hectares of vines in this vineyard, which sits 350 meters above sea level. The microclimate is ideal for the growing of the Nebbiolo variety.

The wine is aged in medium-size French oak barrels for 36 months and then bottle aged for 24 months before release.
