Sky News Weather Senior Meteorologist Rob Sharpe says residents should brace as ex-tropical cyclone Narelle could redevelop and move rapidly across the flooded Katherine region towards Western Australia.
The storm is likely to strengthen into a severe tropical cyclone for the third time.
The last time a weather system made landfall three times as a cyclone was 21 years ago.
