Dawlish Sea Wall: Before & After

In the aftermath of the Dawlish sea wall being breached, succumbed by the sea, work has now been undertaking to slowly an gradually rebuild the stricken scenic railway. With work rebuilding the line to take six weeks or likely months. In the days after the disaster I was looking through my external hard drive and to my amazement I found archive HD footages that I filmed of steam and HSTs running along the sea wall the last two years, especially along the breached section of the wall. Knowing their historic importance and rarity for in the future, I decided to find and bring up unpublished and unseen shots of 70000 Britannia hauling the Torbay Express in July 2012, a year and a half before the disaster.
With that I combined a 'before and after' event in this film, with included additional footages of the Dawlish sea wall after being breached, damaged and stricken.

Having been going there since very early childhood, It's so little wonder why the sea wall is really my personal favorite location to film trains like many around, being one of the most unique and scenic coastal mainlines in the UK. Every good reason why I treat this line as if its my own property.
