Copper Mountain, CO: Mountain Chief lift

This Yan double was installed in 1995 in the back bowls, which is the lift’s second location. It was originally installed in 1977 on the front side as the J lift, where the Timberline Express is. The lift ends at Union Peak, terminating next to Celebrity Ridge and above the Sierra lift. There is a ridge off this lift that leads into some steep drops into the bowl. In 2020, the lower terminal got a new Doppelmayr bullwheel and gearbox. The lift has 101 chairs and 13 towers. Estimated speed is 440 fpm.
