The Business Book Awards in Partnership with Pathway Group, are back for their fifth year to celebrate the books that have helped guide, entertain and inspire business leaders and entrepreneurs through the uncertainty of 2021.

In a year that has provided business leaders around the world with a combination of both personal and professional challenges, this year’s awards will cover 14 different categories with some new additions including ‘Smart Thinking’ (open to UK and international authors) and ‘Work & Life’ and ‘Wellness & Wellbeing’, reflecting the changing range of knowledge and skills required for business success in our hybrid working lives.

Books can be entered into classes ranging from ‘Start-up/Scale-up’ and ‘Business Journey’ through to ‘Diversity, Inclusion & Equality’. This year ‘HR & Management’ has now become ‘People, Culture & Management’ and of course the firm favourite ‘International Business Book’ for books from around the world.

We are thrilled to reveal that taking on the prestigious role of Head Judge this year is none other than literary agent and publishing legend, Jacq Burns. Jacq is the co-founder of The London Writers Club and was formerly Commissioning Editor at Random House and Editorial Director at Harper Collins, where she edited classics such as Men are from Mars; Women are from Venus, Who Moved My Cheese and Chicken Soup for the Soul, all which have sold millions of copies worldwide.

The 2022 Business Book Awards in Partnership with Pathway Group are open to all books published between 1st January 2021 and 31st December 2021. The awards reflect the changing face of the publishing industry, so are open to books published through all routes, including traditional, hybrid and self-published books – the only business book awards to do so.

The awards are now open for entries until Monday 31st January 2022. A shortlisting day with a panel of some of the finest minds in business, journalism and publishing will then take place in February before the shortlist is announced on 1st March 2022. The winners of each category and the overall Business Book of the Year are announced at a live event in May 2022.

Speaking at the launch of the 2022 awards, founder Lucy McCarraher said: “With the unforeseen challenges that leaders, managers and teams have come up against in the past 12 months, business books in this period have provided a source of invaluable advice, inspiration and support for millions of people around the world. It has been fascinating to see how authors and publishers have adapted and driven change, so we feel it is more important than ever to recognise and celebrate the very best books of the year.”

Head Judge, Jacq Burns, said: “I love the Business Book Awards. I have enjoyed being a category judge since their second year and so am delighted to step into the Head Judge role. We’ve already been working together to update and expand the entry categories to fully reflect these new times. And I look forward to an exciting increase in both the number and range of entries, ensuring the award will continue to grow and support the very best of all voices in business writing.”
