GREEN, Ohio — The Ohio Highway State Patrol released dash cam of a police chase involving the Summit County Sheriff's Office on June 02-2021.

The Summit County Sheriff's Office received calls from witnesses reported seeing the suspect later identified as 24-year-old Randy Shiffbauer trying to break into vehicles on Greensburg Road in Green around 10 a.m., and just as a deputy arrived the suspect Shiffbauer rammed the deputy vehicle, cars and truck and fled in a speeding RV with the slide-outs extended and a power cord dangling behind. Shiffbauer refused to stop the motor home despite officers using tire deflation devices, and he even struck multiple other vehicles (including law enforcement vehicles) during the pursuit.

The chase end when the RV drove through at least two backyards on Briarwood Way, it eventually got stuck in the grass, and the driver Shiffbauer attempted to run away on foot. He was quickly captured, after being chased down by a Ohio Highway State Patrol K9.

Schiffbauer was taken to the Summit County Jail, where he’s being held on charges that include felonious assault for using the stolen RV to intentionally ram into various police vehicles.

“The reason that we continued to try to apprehend this person is because of the imminent danger to the public and, thankfully at the end, we were able to successfully apprehend him. Had we not, how do you know what could have happened?” said Summit County Sheriff’s Office Inspector Bill Holland.
