Queensland consider changing ‘absurd’ benchmark for border re-opening

The failures around Queensland’s border policy are “starting to bite” as the government is reportedly considering dropping the “absurd” 28 day target of zero community transmission in NSW before opening the border, says Sky News host Paul Murray.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald the Queensland-NSW border could drop if the southern state records only 14-days of no community transmission rather than the original 28-day target.

The Queensland government is considering the change, however NSW has not recorded 14 successive days of no community transmission since July.

Mr Murray said the move would still make the target “almost statistically impossible”.
