Kelly Clarkson honors Garth Brooks with her rendition of The Dance | The 43rd Kennedy Center Honors

Kelly Clarkson brought Garth Brooks to tears at the 43rd Kennedy Center Honors on June 6. He couldn’t help but get emotional as he watched Kelly Clarkson sing one of his biggest hits. Tears welled up in his eyes as Kelly performed a stripped-down version of “The Dance”. At the end of the performance, Brooks stood up, took off his hat, and let out a big cheer.

The Dance (Lyrics)

Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared 'neath the stars above
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end, the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd have had to miss the dance

Holding you, I held everything
For a moment wasn't I the king
If I'd only known how the king would fall
Hey, who's to say, how I might have changed it all

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end, the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd have had to miss

Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd have had to miss the dance
