Cenotaph Requiem 2021

Last night, the State Ceremonial Musicians of The Household Division marked the start of the Remembrance period with a stirring performance of ‘Cenotaph Requiem’ in The Royal Military Chapel - The Guards' Chapel.

The Orchestra of The Household Division and The Guards Museum, together with the Choir of Christ’s College, Cambridge, the Commonwealth Scholars’ Choir and Commonwealth Children's Choir presented ‘Cenotaph Requiem’, an original composition by Lieutenant Colonel Simon Haw MBE; a Universal Act of Remembrance dedicated to Her Majesty The Queen.

For the sold-out performance, the Musicians performed an emotive set of orchestral music interspersed with epitaphs describing pivotal battles from World War 1 representing the travails of all three services. Each orchestral piece was written and performed as a universal act of remembrance to those military forces who have sacrificed so much from the United Kingdom, United States of America, The Commonwealth and all coalitions, in the defence of democracy and human rights.
