BJP general secretary Amit Shah has emerged as the frontrunner to replace Rajnath Singh as the party president. Shah, a close aide of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been in charge of the party in Uttar Pradesh where the BJP won 71 of the 80 Lok Sabha seats.
