Built in the 12th century CE by King Anantavarman Chodaganga Deva of the Eastern Ganga dynasty.
Dedicated to Lord Jagannath (a form of Vishnu/Krishna).
Known for the annual Rath Yatra (Chariot Festival).
One of the Char Dham pilgrimages of Hinduism.
Architectural style: Kalinga style; towering Shikhara visible from miles.
