Exploring the Largest Temple Complex in Egypt - KARNAK
Thebes nowadays called Luxor was once, around 3000 years ago, the capital of Egypt and it’s believed that it was the biggest city in the world at that time.
It was also an important place of worship of the god Amun-Ra.
So a temple called Karnak Temple was erected on the East Bank of Luxor.
Karnak Temple is the second largest temple in the world behind Angkor Wat in Cambodia.
The importance of Karnak resided in its being the contact point between Amun, the supreme ruler of the universe, and the pharaoh, the supreme ruler on Earth.
And that’s why this temple was built, it also honours other gods and Egyptian rulers who contributed with something to the site over the course of the years.
It’s believed that more than 30 pharaohs contributed with something, building something.
This complex is also perfectly aligned with sunset at the summer solstice. All of Karnak, in fact, is aligned with celestial events, we all know that ancient civilisations never built anything as a coincidence or by mistake, people had a lot more knowledge than previously thought.
