This poem is written in Afrikaans and it's about 95% similar to English in both spelling and meaning. It's spoken by millions of people in Southern Africa.

Just to be clear, I meant to say that THE POEM is 95% similar in English and Afrikaans, not the languages. Definitely not.

The only subtle differences are, in Afrikaans:
- 'word' means 'to become'
- 'loop' means 'to walk' in Afrikaans
- and 'blink' means 'to shine'
