Teaching girls how to code in a South African township

We partnered with Mindjoy to test the new Replit mobile app in South Africa by teaching girls to code on mobile. For some, it's hard to imagine, but in Africa, hundreds of millions of people experience the internet on 2-inch phone screens for the first time.

Learning to code mobile may seem like a leap, but it's more like an opportunity to leapfrog because your world is mobile-first. The girls are learning to code. Some girls working on the laptops struggled with unstable wifi connections, but the girls working on mobile continued to code on $100 Android phones!

Download the app on Android or iOS.
