Chennai Horror: Instagram Influencer Killed at Home, Husband Found Dead in Suspected Murder

A 42-year-old Instagram influencer was allegedly killed by her husband, who was later found dead, in a suspected murder- taken drastic step at their residence in Nanganallur, Chennai.

The incident came to light on April 27 when the couple’s younger son returned home and discovered both parents dead.

The deceased have been identified as Subramanian (52) and his wife Nagalakshmi, who had built a strong presence on Instagram with over three lakh followers through her saree business, Sree Sai Silks.

According to police, the couple had been living separately due to ongoing differences. Subramanian had moved to Madurai, while Nagalakshmi continued to stay in Chennai and focused on expanding her saree business, which gained popularity through social media promotions.

The couple has two sons—Harish Bharadwaj (21), a medical student in Russia, and Sailash (18), a first-year dentistry student in Chennai.

Police said Subramanian had recently returned to Chennai and reportedly reconciled with Nagalakshmi after apologising. However, on April 27, he sent a disturbing message to Sailash, prompting him to rush home.

Upon arrival, Sailash found his mother allegedly hacked to death, while his father was found in another room.

Police teams reached the spot and shifted the bodies to Chengalpattu Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Preliminary investigation suggests that a heated argument between the couple may have led to the incident, though the exact sequence of events is yet to be established. Further probe is underway.
