Agent-Native Research Artifacts: The End of Narrative Scientific Papers

We propose **Agent Native Research Artifact (ARA)**, a new research protocol designed to allow artificial intelligence agents to directly understand, reproduce, and expand scientific research. The existing thesis format generates **'storytelling three'** and **'engineering three'** that omit key information such as failed experiments or detailed implementation figures in the process of compressing complex research processes into linear narratives. ARA addresses this loss of information by preserving knowledge in four structures: the logic of research, actionable code, navigation graphs that record all attempts and failures, and the evidence hierarchy. In addition, we build an ecosystem through a live research manager that naturally collects data during the research process, a compiler that converts existing PDFs to ARA format, and a review system that automates objective verification. As a result of the experiment, ARA was shown to significantly improve the accuracy of AI agents' questions and the success rate of research reproduction compared to the existing method. As a result, the technology is moving away from the era of human-centered reading papers and aiming for a transition to machine-friendly scientific communication that agents can execute and improve immediately.
