History mode is separate from the Special Story mode. This is a super condensed version of the original Naruto story. These are all the main chapters in the mode. It was disappointing to say the least. When the game was first announced, I felt it was going to be almost like a full collection of the Ultimate Ninja Storm games, with a new story attached, sort of like the Master Chief Collection. But clearly there was not much effort put into this game. We skipped the non-voiced slideshows as it's redundant to what is said on the voiced slideshows. But nonetheless, the game is as fun as ever, and if you love Naruto, there's no reason not to get it if it's ever on a steep discount.
